How many years have you been in the business?
I did my first makeup course at TAFE in 2006 and from there decided I wanted to study beauty. After completing my CERT III beauty in 2007 which also included a makeup component I travelled to Asia in 2008 and studied Asian hair and makeup, where I got my excitement for weddings after seeing such colorful and elaborate brides and weddings! This ignited my passion for weddings so I enrolled into the bridal specialist hair and makeup course and airbrushing course at The Face Agency which I completed in 2010. In 2011 I concentrated on working with photographers to build my portfolio and extra studying from books, workshops and classes to improve my techniques.
In January 2012 I finally decided to follow my passion and officially started my bridal business Obsessed with beauty.
Why should I book a professional hair and makeup artists for my wedding day?
Weddings can be stressful so hiring a professional means you can relax and be pampered on your day knowing someone else is in charge of making sure you look absolutely gorgeous all day! Not only in person but in photographic memories for years to come.
Are you a hairdresser? Can you do complex styles?
No I am not a hairdresser, I am only a hairstylist with training in bridal hair styling but am always studying to update my skills. It is best to provide photos of what you like so I can advise beforehand to avoid any disappointment. Please be aware that every persons hair type is different, from colour and texture, to coarseness and condition. This is the reason there are so many different styling tools and products on the market, what works for one person may not nessecarily work for another. I do my very best to replicate the look you are after, however if you do not have a trial I can not be held responsible or blamed if the style is not what you had imagined it would be on you. This is why a trial is so important to make sure that we use the correct tools to achieve your style on your hair type, and if for any reason adjustments need to be made we have time to discuss them and be sure they benefit you and your style for on day.
Should I have a trial?
Although trials are not compulsory they will minimise time and stress on the day of your event or worse not getting the look/style you are after in the allocated time. This is why I strongly recommended one before any big event and for your own benefit and piece of mind. Having a full consultation and practice run ensures you look exactly as you pictured and helps the day run smoothly without any added stress on your big day. Bridesmaids and mothers of the bride/groom who have trouble skin or hair are also welcomed to have a trial for piece on mind.
When should I have my trial?
Trials are recommended between 1-3 months before your wedding so your hair length, cut, colour, highlights and skin are as close to what they would be on the day. Hair and makeup trials take around 3 hours, just hair or just makeup will require less time. Its best to come with your hair washed from the night before and thoroughly dried and a freshly washed face with no makeup on at all. You can find some helpful tips to prepare for your trial here.
How do I book you for my wedding/event date?
First of all check to see if I am available on the date you need. If I am available all you need to do is complete and sign a contract and pay a non refundable deposit of 30% of the final bill to secure your date and price. This is usually done at your trial but can also be done beforehand, to lock in a date and avoid disappointment. Please note your date/price is not secured until both the contract and deposit is received, if the deposit is not received the contract terms and price become null and void.
How far in advance should I book you?
To avoid disappointment, the sooner the better! Certain months are quite popular and can be booked out up to a year or more in advance, the earlier you book the more chances your date may be available. If your wedding date is a few months away and you are not having a trial straight away we suggest you secure you're date with a non refundable $100 retainer to save your date in the event someone would like your date and can have a trial sooner than you (happens far to often hence why I am offering this option).
How much time will you need on the day of the event?
I like to allocate 1 to 1.5 hours for hair 1 hour for makeup per person, thus ensuring a relaxing environment to get ready, with enough time for skin or hair prep and ensures everyone looks as beautiful as they can be on the day and long lasting hair and makeup. It is the responsibility of the client to make sure everyone is on time for services so that we can finish on time. Please note any prep not done by client e.g wet hair not blow-dried smooth and straight will require more time on the date to complete and be charged accordingly.
Can you do both our hair and makeup for my wedding?
Yes, I can do both hair and makeup for smaller bookings if you are happy with the allocated 2-2.5 hours per person but for larger wedding parties I will have my assistant who is a fully qualified hair and makeup artist, doing prep work to maintain our high standards and finish on time.
Can I change my booking numbers at a later date?
It is understandable that with larger bridal parties circumstances may change. Therefore you are able to subtract people up to 7 days before the event, however they will lose their deposits. If you subtract people any time after this you will still be charged 100% of the original quoted price.
Will my makeup last the whole day?
Yes, however the usual minor touch up of lipstick/gloss and gently blotting oil from your face may be needed. Lipstick can be purchased from me to save you time and if you feel your skin is especially oily and will need powdering then compact powders can also be purchased for your convenience.
Remember, if you cry gently dab the tears away, don't wipe!
