How many years have you been in the Industry?
I did my first short makeup course at TAFE in 2006 and from there decided I wanted to study beauty. After completing my CERT III beauty in 2007 which also included a makeup component I travelled to Asia in 2008 and studied Asian hair and makeup, where I got my excitement for weddings after seeing such colourful Brides and elaborate weddings! This ignited my passion for weddings so I enrolled into the bridal specialist hair and makeup course and airbrushing course at The Face Agency which I completed in 2010. In 2011 I concentrated on working with photographers to build my portfolio and extra studying from books, workshops and classes to improve my techniques.
In January 2012 I finally decided to follow my passion and officially started my Adelaide bridal hair and makeup business Obsessed with beauty.
Why should I book a professional hairstylist for my wedding day?
Weddings can be stressful so hiring a professional means you can relax and be pampered on your day knowing someone else is in charge of making sure you look absolutely gorgeous all day! Not only in person but in photographic memories for years to come.
Are you a hairdresser? Can you do complex styles?
No I am not a hairdresser, I am only a hairstylist with basic training in bridal hair styling but am always studying to update my skills. It is best to provide photos of what you like so I can advise beforehand to avoid any disappointment. Please be aware that every persons hair type is different, from colour and texture, to coarseness and condition. This is the reason there are so many different styling tools and products on the market, what works for one person may not nessecarily work for another. I do my very best to replicate the look you are after, however if you do not have a trial I can not be held responsible if the style is not what you had imagined it would be on you. This is why a trial is so important to make sure that we use the correct tools to achieve your style on your hair type, and if for any reason adjustments need to be made we have time to discuss them and make sure it is perfect for on the day!
Should I have a trial?
Although trials are not compulsory they will minimise time and stress on the day of your event or worse not getting the look/style you are after in the allocated time. This is why I strongly recommended one before any big event and for your own benefit and piece of mind. Having a full consultation and practice run ensures you look exactly as you pictured and helps the day run smoothly without any added stress on your big day. Bridesmaids and mothers of the bride/groom who have problem hair are also welcomed to have a trial for piece on mind.
When should I have my trial?
Trials are recommended between 1-3 months before your wedding so your hair length, cut, colour, highlights are as close as possible to what they would be on the day. Hair trials take roughly 1.5 hours, sometimes less sometimes more. It's best to come with your hair washed from the night before and thoroughly dried so we can start styling straight away. You can find some helpful tips to prepare for your trial here.
How do I book you for my wedding/event date?
First of all check to see if I am available on the date needed. If I am available all you need to do is complete and sign a booking form and pay a non refundable/non transferable retainer of $85 to secure your date and price. Please note that your date/price is not secured until both the contract and retainer is received. If the retainer is not received within a week we reserve the right to open your date for other bookings.
To avoid disappointment, we suggest the sooner you can organise your trial and book your date the better as certain months are quite popular and can be booked out up to a year or more in advance.
How much time will you need on the day of the event?
I like to allocate 1 to 1.5 hours for hair per person depending on the style, thus ensuring a relaxing environment to get ready. It is the responsibility of the client to make sure everyone is on time for services so that we can finish on time. Please note if prep is not done by client e.g wet hair not blow-dried smooth and straight, more time will be require on the day to complete and an additional charge will be incurred.
Can you do both our hair and makeup for my wedding?
Yes, I can do both hair and makeup for smaller bookings if you are happy with the allocated 2-2.5 hours per person, however being a sole trader, I do all of the work myself without any help or assistant so for bigger parties I suggest hiring a separate hair and makeup artist to ensure less waiting around time and finishing twice as fast than one artist doing both.
Can I change my booking numbers at a later date?
It is understandable that with larger bridal parties circumstances may change. Therefore you are able to subtract people up to 7 days before the event, however they will lose their deposits. If you subtract people any time after this you will still be charged 100% of the original quoted price.
