What is Inkless Stretch Marks Revision (ISR)?
A cosmetic procedure utilising a rotary device and serum to improve the appearance and texture of stretch marks. The serum combined with needling triggers the bodies natural healing response to make the stretch mark less noticeable. ISR works on all skin tones, with certain precautions recommended for higher Fitzpatrick clients. Fitz 4-6 requires extra aftercare and longer healing between sessions due to hyperpigmentation risks.
How does it differ from skin needling?
Different device, cartridges, serum and aftercare. We only treat stretch marks and not surrounding skin.
What kind of stretch marks can be treated?
Any stretch mark on the body can be treated as long as it is healed and not red, pink or purple (indicating it is still healing). Once formed, stretch marks often take a year to heal, so older pale stretch marks are ideal to treat.
Does it hurt?
Everyone's pain threshold is different. We don’t use numbing and the majority of our clients get it done without but if you would like to be more comfortable then you are more than welcome to apply numbing cream before your appointment. Over the counter numbing cream from the pharmacy is sufficient and should be applied according to the instructions.
What can I expect after the procedure?
Straight after the procedure you may experience redness, swelling, tightness and the feeling of being sunburnt. During healing the treated area can become dry, flakey and experience some minor scabbing.
How do I look after my skin following ISR?
Aftercare is simple, only one product is needed, that is affordable and can easily be found at most chemists but patience is required, as with services that causes trauma to the skin, it can look worse before it gets better and skin on the body heals slower.
After the procedure:
Do not take Ibuprofen or any blood thinning medications for the next 24 hours.
Avoid all things hot: sauna, spa, sweating etc.
You can shower 12 hours after the procedure.
Apply healing balm 2 times a day until next procedure or 8 weeks post final session.
always use sunscreen when treated areas are exposed to the Sun.
How many procedures will I need to see results?
you can see up to 50% improvement after one session.
Typically between 1-4 treatments can be performed depending on client expectations and healing results.
Who isn't a suitable candidate for SMR?
Currently pregnant or breastfeeding
Blood clotting problems
Chronic skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema, active bacterial or fungal infection and skin cancer in the treating area.
Currently taking Roaccutane or within the last 6 months
Prone to keloid scaring
Diabetics
