What is Skin Needling?
Skin needling, also known as mesotheraphy, microneedling or collagen induction therapy (CIT), is a minimally invasive, non surgical procedure for facial rejuvenation using a micro-needling device to create controlled micro punctures in the skin. This injury causes the skin to respond by making new collagen-rich tissue for a more even tone skin.
Does it hurt?
Everyone's pain threshold is different, some clients have liken it to microdermabrasion or a pinching sensation and the majority of our clients get it done without numbing and we perform the service with no numbing but if you would like to be more comfortable then you are more than welcome to apply numbing cream before your appointment. Over the counter numbing cream from the pharmacy is sufficient and should be applied according to the instructions.
How do I prepare for the procedure?
Your skin needs to be prepped for at least 4 weeks prior to the procedure in order to get the best results possible and quicker recovery. This includes;
What can I expect after the procedure?
Straight after the procedure your skin may experience redness, pin point bleeding and minor swelling. For the next 1-4 days your skin may feel sensitive, tight, dry and experience minor skin flaking. By day 4-5 the skin should be fully recovered and you can resume using active ingredients again.
How do I look after my skin following microneedling?
Proper aftercare is of great importance to nourish the skin during the regeneration process. Following the procedure clients are recommended to use DermaHeal, to be applied to the treated area at least twice a day for the next 3-5 days. DermaHeal increases circulation, nourishes skin, enables faster wound healing and acts as a second skin to protect from environmental and bacterial invasions, whilst preventing scarring. It is rich in antioxidants from green tea extract and has Beta Glucan to scavenge scarring and promote collagen building.
How many procedures will I need to see results?
How well your skin responses to the treatment is dependant on your skin prep, skin type, age and continued home care products between sessions. Depending on your skin concerns, we recommend the following as a guide for optimal results;
Problematic: a course of 2 -3 treatments every 2-4 weeks apart.
Pigmentation: a course of 6 treatments every 3 weeks apart.
Rosacea: a course of 2-3 treatments every 8 weeks apart.
Collagen induction: a course of 6 treatments every 8 weeks apart.
Scarring: a course of 8-10 treatments every 6-8 weeks apart.
